Art On The Hill

2018 | NR
32m

Art on the Hill tells the story of the determined and talented female sculptor, conservationist and visionary, Dorothy Riester. It explores the process of the creation of the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia, NY.

Through accounts of friends, fellow artists and colleagues, we learn about a woman who clearly knew at a very early age what her path was, and boldly followed it.  Dorothy was a woman who accomplished so much and asked no one’s permission. She deeply valued her connection to nature and inspired everyone who knew her.

In 2011, its 20th anniversary year, Stone Quarry Hill Art Park was recognized as #2 in National Geographic’s “Top Ten Sculpture Parks and Trails” in Secret Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World’s Best Hidden Travel Gems.

“The Park is not an outdoor museum of sculpture placed statically in a landscape setting, but rather an ever-changing partnership between the artist and environment…”

– Dorothy Riester, Art Park Founder

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts.
